Three seater 'Maralunga Sofa By Vico Magistretti For Cassina in Navy Leather - We Have Two Available

The Maralunga sofa was created in 1973 by Vico Magistretti for the Italian firm Cassina.

Known for his creations using simple, essential forms and the use of innovative materials for the time, he undertook many partnerships with the new editors of these years while following to the letter the red thread that he imposed himself.

The collaboration with Cassina began in 1959 with the Carimate chair which met with great success, but this is nothing compared to the Maralunga which became a true icon of Italian design, winning the Compaso d'oro in 1979. For its creation, the Milanese architect and designer had for main directive an extreme comfort, still produced today, it celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2014 for the occasion Cassina rethought its range in agreement with the foundation Vico Magistretti with the addition of a new finish on the seams of the structure or with the model 40s the creation of a removable fabric cover. And last but not least the 40 maxi, an enlarged version of the original model.

The structure is composed of a steel tube frame associated with elastic straps. The backrest has three independent headrests and removable by an internal chain system patented by the Italian firm.
