Lovely French mahogany bouillotte table dating back to the early 20th century.
This handsome piece features an inset circular marble top encased by a pierced brass gallery, two frieze drawers and leather pull-out trays. Its top is set on four turned and fluted legs with brass feet and castors.
This charming occasional table, or bouillotte, was originally used as a game table, named after the card game, la bouillotte, which became popular in France at the end of the 18th century during the reign of Louis XVI. The pull-out trays were originally used for laying out game pieces and gambling chips.
