Very rare sculptural Domus Nova coffee table designed by Gio Ponti and manufactured by Domus Nova for the store ‘la Rinascente’, Italy 1950.
This table is made of walnut wood and gas a glass top. There is a pattern on the lower part of the table, which resembles a diamond design.
The table is in very good original condition, the glass is perfect and the wood has a charming authentic patina.
About the designer:
Giovanni ‘Gio’ Ponti, born in Milan 1891, was an important architect, industrial and furniture designer, artist, and publisher. During his career, which spanned six decades, Ponti built more than a hundred buildings in Italy and in the rest of the world. He designed a considerable number of decorative art and design objects as well as furniture.
Gio Ponti is by fact one of the most iconic and recognized designers from Italy. His works are known and sought after all over the world, because many people recognize the importance his work brought for the modernist movement all over the world.
