1960s Boomerang Desk designed by Peter Løvig Nielsen for Hedendsted Møbelindustri

Beautiful teak ‘Boomerang’ desk designed by Peter Løvig Nielsen for Hedendsted Møbelindustri in the 1960s.

This rare Danish design is characterised by its boomerang inspired L-shaped structure. The desk features three draws at its front, each with sculpted handles and dovetail joinery, while its back consists of a large open bookcase and a lockable mirrored cabinet and shelf.

Wonderful brass detailing places emphasis on the piece’s diagonal bracing, while the raised lip of its top gives the Mid-century desk a sophisticated flair.

About the Designer:

Designing in the Scandinavian modern style that took the design world by storm in the 1950s and ‘60s, Løvig Nielsen is known for his wooden desks, tables, and storage units. Like many of his Danish contemporaries, Løvig Nielsen favored high-quality and beautifully grained woods such as teak, rosewood, and walnut, and his designs often featured tapered legs and organic curved edges.

One of his most well-known designs is often referred to as the Boomerang Desk.
